How does it work?
The K9 Collars Bark Collar is simple to operate. After reading the instructions, place the battery in the receiver and attach it around the dog’s neck. When your dog barks, a warning “beep” and a low level of “correction” is given. If the dog continues to bark, the intensity level of the “correction” is automatically increased with each successive bark. The “correction” is not harmful, but it is a sufficient deterrent to excessive barking.

Can my dog be harmed in anyway?
No, definitely not. The “correction” is 1/16th of the static “zap” you receive from a car door on a dry windy day. The dog quickly learns that more than two barks  is the limit and will act accordingly, still providing you with a watch dog and not totally suppressing the dog’s natural inclination to bark as a warning to you. K9 Bark Collar “correction” will shut off if the dog continues to bark beyond 15 times.

Will a dog cease to acknowledge the “correction”?
No, there are six (6) levels of static stimulation, increasing with each successive bark.

Is the Bark Collar okay for use on small dogs?
Certainly. The collar and the unit are very light. The “correction” is not too strong for small dogs and strong enough for big dogs.

Do I have to train my dog?
Yes, but minimally. A training manual is supplied that sets out the routine in a simple fashion.

How long do the batteries in the receiver last?
With replaceable batteries in all systems, average battery life is 3 to 6 months, sometimes even longer, depending on how often the dog barks.   However, the first battery may not last as long, due to greater use during the dog’s training period.

What is a K9 Collars Containment System?
The K9 Collars Containment System is a pet containment system that uses FM radio signals and correction training to keep your dog within a designated boundary.

How does it work?
A wire carries a harmless FM radio signal around the designated area. Your dog wears a small radio receiver collar that signals him by emitting a mild simulation (or correction) when he gets to close to the boundary.

How does my dog learn where the boundary is?
In conjunction with our professional training protocol, your dog learns the boundaries through audio tones and visual marker flags. Our experienced trainers teach you how to train your dog to understand the boundaries through positive reinforcement training.  Through repetition and consistency, your dog learns where they can run and play. With training, your dog remembers the placement of the flags (which are slowly taken away during the training period) and is taught to stay within the border. If your dog goes within 2 – 3 metres (most properties) of the boundary, he will hear an audible warning sound from the receiver that means he is getting close to the boundary. If he ignores the warning and moves closer to the boundary, he will receive a correction.

Do all pet containment systems run on the same type of system?
K9 Collars Containment System is a DogWatch product which is the only dog containment system  in Australia that works on a FM Digital radio signal frequency. This patented FM system, called SafeLink ®, is an exclusive DogWatch technology that provides the dog with maximum protection from accidental correction caused by stray radio signals. All other dog containment systems run on an AM radio frequency that often picks up stray radio signals. These AM signals can cause the dog to receive an unintentional correction when the dog is not near the fence’s hidden boundary. This may cause the dog to become confused because of the inappropriate corrections. Only DogWatch’s SafeLink ® system safety ignores all AM radio signals.

Is the Containment System similar to an electric fence?
No, the K9 Collars Containment System is not an electric fence so it is safe for children, visitors and other dogs. The only electric current comes from a tiny battery which powers the receiver on the dog’s collar.

Will the stimulation from the collar hurt my dog?
No, definitely not. The “correction” is 1/16th of the static “zap” you receive from a car door on a dry windy day. The “correction” is rarely experienced by the dog more than once or twice during the training period. The dog seldom goes back for more than one or two “zaps”, taking notice of the “warning” sound each time it nears the boundary.

What does the correction feel like?
The correction from the receiver collar is similar to the sensation you feel when you walk across a carpet and touch a metal doorknob. The sensation momentarily surprises you and gets your attention. The stimulation is 4 times less than static electricity.

Will the system work on more than one dog?
Yes, you can most certainly contain as many dogs as you wish and you do not always have to add extra receivers for each dog. Quite often, by containing the most wilful and dominant dog, the remainder will not attempt to stray, so there’s no need to rush additional purchases.

Will I be able to take my dog for a walk after he is trained to stay within his boundary?
We encourage you to take your dog for a walk. However, before taking him on walks, we recommend that the dog is completely trained on the K9 Collars Containment System and all flags have been removed. This usually takes a couple of weeks. We provide specific instructions on how to walk your dogs outside the protected area.

Can my dog even get over-corrected?
No. The receiver has a safeguard system and shuts down automatically after 15 seconds to guard your dog against over-correction.

Is the containment system safe during a lightning storm?
K9 Collars Containment System has Internal and External electrical surge protection included. The internal surge protection unit will protect your investment from a surge occurring in the power grid. The external surge protection unit and techniques will protect against lightning strikes that may occur during an electrical storm.

How much does it cost? What if I move?
The K9 Collars Containment System is an alternative to fencing and gates at a fraction of the costs. Once you buy the system, you can expand it, add garden loops or take it with you when you move. Contact us for a free on-site consultation on your individual yard.

How big of an area will the system cover?
From a minimum of a small garden to a maximum of approximately 200 acres. Special needs can sometimes be accommodated; contact us for a free on-site consultation.

How old does my puppy need to be for the K9 Collars Containment System?
Every dog is different. Some puppies are ready at four months of age, while others are not ready until seven or eight months. Your K9 Collars consultant will assess your dog’s readiness, based on the following criteria: Puppy should obey simple commands such as “sit”, “stay”, “come”. Puppy should also be trained to walk on a lead.

Does K9 Collars have a rechargeable battery for the collar?
No. Research and experience has shown that rechargeable equipment is less reliable due to its slow discharge of operation. We only offer lithium batteries, which have proven to stay fully charged throughout its life span. Our batteries can last up to 2 years in our equipment. This makes it much less a responsibility for our clients to constantly worry about recharging a collar or replacing a battery.

Is there a guarantee on the K9 Collars Containment System?
A K9 Collars Containment System carries a lifetime manufacturers warranty when installed by an authorised dealer. K9 Collars offers a 30 day money back guarantee and a manufacturers' life time warranty.
